Have you got fitness goals this year? Let Heylo be your low-carb workout partner 💪🍞

Avoiding carbs around your workout can be a strategy that you might use to enhance your fitness goals. On top of this, a good intake of protein around physical activity is a must. This can be tricky - having all the ingredients to prep a perfectly balanced salad at the perfect moment before or after your workout can be a bit of a stretch (no pun intended).

Thankfully, Heylo bread is packed with protein and fibre. Our subs and round rolls have over 15g of protein each, while are bagels contain almost 20g of protein, all whilst remaining perfectly low-carb.

Pre and post-workout meals don't have to involve lots of prep or cooking. To ensure low carbs and high protein intake, a simple, nutritionally-balanced sandwich on our keto bread will do the trick - all ready in 5 minutes!

Here's a few scenarios where low carb meals might be of use to you on your fitness journey:

1. Before Workout: Consuming a low-carb or balanced meal before a workout can prevent a sudden spike in blood sugar levels, which might lead to energy crashes during your session.

2. After Workout: Some individuals opt to consume protein-rich meals immediately after their workout to support muscle recovery and growth, without a heavy emphasis on carbs. Protein intake post-workout is crucial, but keep carbs low-moderate can help aid recovery.

3. Targeted Ketogenic Diet (TKD): This approach involves consuming a small amount of fast-digesting carbs around your workout to provide an energy boost during high-intensity exercises, while still maintaining a low-carb intake overall.

4. Cyclical Ketogenic Diet (CKD): This involves cycling between periods of low-carb intake and higher-carb intake, with the higher-carb days typically centred around intense workout sessions.   It’s important to note that individual responses to carb timing can vary. While some people may benefit from massively limiting carbs before or after their workout, others might perform better with a moderate intake. Heylo gives you control of your carbs and allows you the convenience of quick simple meals. Experimentation and paying attention to your body’s signals are key. See what works for you!
