Heylo Lighter White Bread: 6 slices
- Minced beef: 500g
- Medium onion: 1 (chopped)
- Garlic cloves: 2 (minced)
- Tomato passata: 400g
- Dried oregano: 1 tsp
- Dried basil: 1 tsp
- Salt: to taste
- Black pepper: to taste
- Ricotta cheese: 250g
- Mozzarella cheese: 200g (shredded)
- Parmesan cheese: 50g (grated)
Directions
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Fry the chopped onion and minced garlic over medium heat until softened. Add the minced beef and cook until browned.
- Stir in the tomato passata, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- In a baking dish, layer the ingredients: start with a layer of the meat sauce, followed by slices of Heylo bread, then a layer of ricotta cheese. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese over the top layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
