Signs of an unhealthy gut
Look out for weight changes
If you notice that you’re losing or gaining weight rapidly, or drastically, without making any changes to your diet or exercise routine, this could be a sign of an unhealthy gut.
Our guts help our body to store fat, regulate blood sugars and absorb all the good nutrients from food. Therefore, if you notice any unexplained weight loss or gain, it could be because your gut isn’t working properly.
Skin flare ups
The gut really does affect the whole body, including our skin. When it’s not working healthily due to a bad diet or food intolerances, the gut can become inflamed and cause our skin to flare up in the form of acne or eczema.
When your gut isn’t functioning healthily, you can suffer from an upset stomach which can come out in the form of constipation, diarrhoea, bloating, trapped gas or even heartburn.
The best way to support your gut on its road back to optimal health is to consume a healthy, balanced diet with minimal sugar to try and combat these uncomfortable and sometimes painful symptoms.
Previous studies have shown that a gut that is imbalanced can cause migraines and leave our body feeling seriously unwell. If you’re experiencing frequent migraines and haven’t suffered in the past, it could be that your gut needs some love.
Unexplained tiredness? Feeling short of breath? The gut could be to blame. Another sign of a gut that isn’t performing at its best is fatigue and the best way to overcome this and to re-balance the gut is again, to switch up your diet to ensure you’re eating a healthy and balanced diet full of nutrition.
